Single-leg balance: how to do it with good form
Single-leg balance trains the ankles, hips and coordination — important for preventing falls and injuries.
How to do it
- 1
Stand tall near a wall or chair for support if needed.
- 2
Lift one foot off the floor with a soft knee.
- 3
Hold your balance for the set time, eyes looking forward.
- 4
Switch legs. Make it harder by closing your eyes or standing on something soft.
Common mistakes
- Locking the knee of the standing leg.
- Hip dropping to the side.
- Looking down at the floor.
