Split squat: how to do it with good form
The split squat is a stationary lunge that builds strong legs and balance, with or without weights.
How to do it
- 1
Stand in a long staggered stance with one foot in front of the other.
- 2
Keep your torso upright, hands on hips or dumbbells at your sides.
- 3
Lower the back knee straight down towards the floor.
- 4
Drive up through the front heel and do all reps before switching legs.
Common mistakes
- A stance so short the front knee travels far forward.
- Front knee caving in.
- Leaning the torso forward.
