Legs
Step-up: how to do it with good form
The step-up onto a box or bench works one leg at a time and mirrors everyday movement such as climbing stairs.
How to do it
- 1
Place your whole foot on a sturdy box or bench at about knee height.
- 2
Lean slightly forward and drive up through the foot on the box.
- 3
Stand all the way up without pushing off with the lower foot.
- 4
Step down with control. Do all reps, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
- Pushing off with the lower leg.
- A box so high the hip sags away.
- Knee caving in.
