Dumbbell skull crusher: how to do it with good form
The dumbbell skull crusher isolates the triceps and is kinder to the elbows than the barbell version.
How to do it
- 1
Lie on a bench with a dumbbell in each hand, arms straight above your chest, palms facing each other.
- 2
Keep your upper arms still.
- 3
Bend your elbows and lower the dumbbells towards the sides of your head.
- 4
Extend your arms until they are straight again.
Common mistakes
- Upper arms swinging back and forth.
- Elbows flaring out.
- Weight so heavy the movement turns into a press.
