Incline bench press: how to do it with good form
The incline bench press puts more focus on the upper chest and front shoulders than the flat bench press.
How to do it
- 1
Set the bench to 30–45 degrees and lie with your eyes under the bar.
- 2
Grip slightly wider than shoulder-width and pull your shoulder blades together.
- 3
Lower the bar with control to your upper chest.
- 4
Press up to straight arms.
Common mistakes
- An incline so steep the shoulders take over.
- Bouncing the bar off the chest.
- Hips lifting off the bench.
