Overnight oats with chia and berries

Overnight oats solve the mornings when there is no time to make anything. You mix everything in a jar, the oats and chia soak up the milk while you sleep, and breakfast is ready when you are.

The fibre is what makes it filling: 9 g per serving from oats, chia and berries together.

Ingredients

Servings: 1

  • 50 g rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 200 ml milk or unsweetened plant drink
  • 150 g plain quark (0.2% fat)
  • 100 g berries
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple syrup (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Put the oats, chia seeds, salt and vanilla in a jar with a lid.

  2. 2

Pour in the milk, stir well and make sure no dry oats are stuck to the sides.

  3. 3

Stir in the quark, close the jar and refrigerate overnight — at least six hours.

  4. 4

In the morning, stir once, loosen with a splash of milk if it is too thick, and top with berries and maple syrup.

Rest overnight, at least 6 hours, in the fridge.

  • Prepare three jars at once — they keep for up to three days in the fridge.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to use chia seeds?
No, but they thicken the oats and add fibre. Without them, use a little less milk.
