Copenhagen plank: how to do it with good form

The Copenhagen plank trains the inner thighs and the side of the trunk, and helps protect runners and ball players from groin injuries.

How to do it

  1. 1

Lie on your side with your forearm on the floor under your shoulder.

  2. 2

Place the top leg's foot or knee on a bench.

  3. 3

Lift your hips so your body forms a straight line, and hold.

  4. 4

Hold for the set time, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

  • Hips sagging towards the floor.
  • Starting with straight legs before you have the strength — begin with the knee on the bench.
  • Shoulder drifting far from the elbow.
