Crunch: how to do it with good form
The crunch is a simple ab exercise that trains the rectus abdominis with no equipment. It works well at the end of a session or at home on the floor.
How to do it
- 1
Lie on your back, knees bent and feet flat. Hands lightly behind your head.
- 2
Breathe out and curl your shoulders off the floor by drawing your ribs towards your hips.
- 3
Pause at the top and squeeze your abs.
- 4
Lower slowly until your shoulder blades touch the floor.
Common mistakes
- Pulling on your neck with your hands.
- Swinging up with momentum instead of curling.
