Pallof press: how to do it with good form

The Pallof press trains the core to resist rotation — one of the best exercises for a stable trunk.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set a cable or resistance band at chest height and stand side-on to the anchor.

  2. 2

Hold the handle at your chest with both hands and step out until there is tension.

  3. 3

Press your arms straight out and resist the pull to the side.

  4. 4

Hold for a second, bring it back and do all reps before switching sides.

Common mistakes

  • Torso rotating towards the anchor.
  • Leaning away from the cable.
  • Shoulders creeping up towards the ears.
