Kettlebell swing: how to do it with good form
The kettlebell swing trains the glutes and hamstrings explosively and raises the heart rate — the power comes from the hips, not the arms.
How to do it
- 1
Stand a little wider than hip-width with the kettlebell in front of you and grip it with both hands.
- 2
Push your hips back and swing the bell back between your legs.
- 3
Drive your hips forward explosively so the bell swings up to chest height.
- 4
Let the bell fall back and go straight into the next swing.
Common mistakes
- Lifting with the arms.
- Bending the knees like a squat instead of hinging at the hips.
- Rounding the back at the bottom.
