Wide-grip lat pulldown: how to do it with good form
The wide-grip lat pulldown focuses on back width and is a good path to your first pull-up.
How to do it
- 1
Take a wide overhand grip on the bar and sit with your thighs under the pad.
- 2
Lean back slightly with your chest up.
- 3
Pull the bar down to your upper chest, driving the elbows down.
- 4
Let it rise with control until your arms are straight.
Common mistakes
- Pulling the bar behind the neck.
- Leaning far back and rowing with the body.
- Letting the weight yank the arms up.
